Social Media Challenge - Celebrating 6 Years of Splinterlands

 

Hello all, how have all of you been. I hope all of you are doing well. If not for this Social Media Challenge, I wouldn't have realized that it is already a 6 year anniversary for Splinterlands. Wishing the development team and fellow players, Happy 6th Birthday! Woohoo! Today, I will turn back the clock and see how I have progressed ever since I start playing Splinterlands, the amazing people I meet and also how I progressed in my collection building.
 
Discovery of Splinterlands & How Long I've Been Playing Splinterlands
Back in the days of COVID-19 where everyone was grounded at home, our PC and TV become our best friend and we spend bulk of the time on it. And while we were bored stiff with nothing much to do, I started scrolling through Youtube and chanced upon videos on play2earn gaming. Upon viewing multiple videos, I finally decided to kickstart my Splinterlands journey in November 2021. The simple gameplay with so many different variants and combinations of how to put up lineups really got me fascinated. It gave me the feel of back in school days when I was playing Magic The Gathering, so I bought the Spellbook and started my battling and building up my collection.
 



Ever since the spellbook was bought, I was actively building up my account. I've lost count in the total number of seasons I've been through but definitely time passed so fast that I went through quite a number of End of Season, eagerly waiting and opening those End of Season chest. It's been a good 3 years coming to a 4th by this coming November.

And throughout this 3 years, I am thankful to be able to connected to communities such as Metafrens which consist of fellow Singaporeans which really help me with a jump start to this because the time when I join Splinterlands, in order to start earning proper, we need some collection power, it becomes an role playing game which is without the earning element. But with support and help on delegation and group tournaments to jump start my account, I manage to build up from strength to strength, gaining more cards and also building up SPS. Special thanks to fellow Singaporean friends @namelessnameless, @relf87, @blitzzzz, @babychimz and @genming who had been the jump starters of my journey. Not only do they help with delegation, they also helped with strategy and lineup sharing so as to help me improve my gameplay.

The next portion of my growth came in the form of the PIZZA community. Because of their acceptance of me into the guild which gave me the opportunity to participate in Brawls. Brawls allowed me access to more SPS and also builds up my strategies and lineup planning which is really helpful in my development. And on top of that because of the recent Summoners that can allow use of Gladius cards in normal ranked battle, Gladius cards that obtained through spending merits on Gladius packs can now be handy as well in daily ranked gameplay. I have grown much thanks to all the love from the community, great place to hang out as well.

 

Accomplishments
With the various changes that came about, the push for growth enabled by my friends and my continuous learning/reviewing of battle data, I am now in Diamond league, something that I would never have imagined when I started playing the game back then. Back then, to be able to comfortably compete in Silver was already such a joy. The highest streak I able to achieve was at 17 matches which I wonder how did I last so long unbeaten when usually at 3rd or 4th match, the opposite streak comes, Losing Streak.
 

Upcoming Goals
Something that I haven't delve into is the Land aspect of the game. While many have already have their fair share of land, I still do not own a single piece of land. Will want to look into this aspect upon being able to build a more stable collection.

The next upcoming goal is to attempt to go into Champion League and level up my play skill. Though right now I am going up and down within Diamond League, I believe continuous refinement of my playing skills and building a more levelled up collection, in the near future, I should be able to touch Champion League.

Beginners Advice
I did had beginners advice post previously to share on some advice for people whom are new to the game. Indeed it might look like a steep curve to climb and needing so many assets on hand in order to get something stable or do decent in the game. However, the key to this game is to embrace the community. While the game looks rather like a single player game, there is a huge community out there. Just like how I had the support from Metafrens and Hive PIZZA discord. Discussions, advices, active sharing of brawl reports all aid in the growth for every individual. There are also loads of information that can be found in Splinterlands discord. Be active and participate in discussion, make new friends and your journey will be way smoother than doing all this alone.
 
Closing
What an amazing thus far for me though I did not discover Splinterlands earlier and go through the 6 years of it, but from how I have been playing the game and seeing how things evolved, the developers are really doing their best to refine the game in all aspects and also listening to what the ground is sharing. Kudos to you guys and thank you for bringing joy to everyone playing Splinterlands. Once again, happy 6th birthday!
