In Search of Balance in a Busy World

  I have come to discover that, no matter how good I am, I am replaceable! Sounds crazy, right? But that is quite the truth. The last few days have been a typical example of striving to find balance by all means, but the more I try, the harder it becomes. To say that finding balance in life is difficult is an understatement. I wish I had a suitable word to express how uneasy it is to figure out balance in life. In a bid to achieve some kind of high-set goal, meet deadlines, or even become perfect in your job role or family duties, you might end up overworking yourself and even experience burnout. This is why it's important to try setting priorities, which seems helpful to some extent.

Personally, there are lots of things that kept pulling me from left to right, juggling multiple responsibilities, from work life to my family to home duties to my personal life. All these aspects of my life need attention, and I kept struggling to achieve a healthy balance. Yesterday I didn't know when tears rolled out from my eyes down to my cheeks. I was totally overwhelmed with lots of negative uncertainties. I felt so stressed out with many things dragging my attention, but in everything, I try to stay strong and keep finding balance. However, taking a break to clear off my head and be in a good state of mind and health is a must to embrace whenever needed. My good friend noticed that I couldn't publish a blog yesterday and gave me a call to be sure that I was okay. That is how much I was dragged yesterday, and pursuing my daily writing streak became a forgotten issue because, like I stated at the beginning of this article, no matter how good I claim to be with my overall responsibilities in life, I am replaceable. So one of the practical actions I took yesterday was to lay aside blogging, which was part of my daily goal, embrace rest and a lengthy sleep time, and be rejuvenated in order to remain efficient and healthy with my day-to-day activities.


Attaining a balanced life may require that you pay equal attention to every necessary thing in your life. It's a task, uneasy and difficult, but necessary to try. However, there are certain lifestyles I have adapted that have helped me to achieve a sense of balance and wellbeing to some extent,so as to avoid getting so disorganized and frustrated as life is really so demanding. Take a look at some of the tips below:

Planning my day and managing my time is a habit I find effective when it comes to seeking a balanced life. Sometimes, if I fail to plan my day, except on any day I encounter uncertainties, it affects my daily activities and makes me unproductive and unfulfilled. So what I normally do once my kids leave for school is sit down and create my daily goals. Since there is much I have to do daily, I do not hesitate to write down my daily tasks and tick off the ones I have achieved. Sometimes, I allocate time to each task in order to stay focused on it. Have you experienced a day in your life where you find yourself doing something irrelevant and spending more time on it? Lack of planning and time management could lead to that, and I must also mention that it takes discipline and being deliberate to achieve this.


Another lifestyle I adopt while seeking a balanced life is setting priorities. Many things may look so important to attend to every day, but there are times when we can't just do them all, no matter how much we strive. In this case, I set priorities and attend to my most-needed task, leaving the rest for the next day. Also, my overall health is my highest priority. I can't function efficiently and effectively when I am burned out or feel so down, and this is why I pay attention to my body system and know when to slow down or take a break.


Lastly, seeking support from friends and family when I feel overwhelmed has proved effective in finding balance. Same yesterday, when I was caught up with a lot in the hospital with my child, I didn't hesitate to call a friend to assist me with a task so important to me, and it did help me a lot and get me so much relief, and I felt calm.
 
The above tips are some lifestyles I have adapted over the years while striving to achieve a sense of balance and wellbeing, and I feel they can last a long time.
 
Overall, I am not working towards perfection but only striving for excellence in my duties.
