La Fila Park, Caracas - May 1st 2024

This morning I sat down to write about one of my walks in my recent trip to Chicago but then the husband suggested we go hiking. I didn't think twice and said yes. The Chicago walk post will have to wait a few days.

In the last months not only have I been somewhat absent from Hive, but also my hikes to the mountains since the beginning of the year have been few and far between. Although I have not stopped walking as we went almost every day to our local park, the last time I went up the mountain according to the pictures on my cell phone was March 9. More than a month and a half ago.

It was time to get back on the trail, so I grabbed my hat and went with my husband to the mountain.

I thought it would be difficult to climb some slopes because it's not the same as walking on the flat, but despite the scorching heat, the slopes weren't that difficult. I thought it would be harder to climb.

Everything is very dry these days due to the lack of rain and since there is almost no vegetation almost all the way you can see views of the city between the dry branches of the trees.

There are no wildflowers, only many dry branches, and leaves. Hopefully, the rains will not be long in coming because everything is so dry that any spark could cause a disaster.

But the view of the mountains in any season is always majestic and fills you with energy. And despite the heat and that I was a bit exhausted, being there at the viewpoint, one is always glad to have climbed.

Here I am taking some pictures for this post and the husband captured the moment.

Already down at the entrance of the reserve, I was surprised to see the Araguaney tree which had already lost its flowers the last time I was there had some yellow sparkles again. I didn't notice it on the way up, probably because I was exhausted 😂.

And right next to the Araguaney, there is a big Ceiba tree loaded with fruits.

Have you ever seen these fruits that have inside like a big cotton ball? Surely next week they will have opened and there will be “flying cotton balls” around.

I came home refreshed with the intention of getting back into the habit of hiking in the mountain, at least a couple of times a week.

And speaking of habits being today the 1st of the month, we must not forget the habit of doing Power Up.
