You will never succeed if you never do it

A simple sentence but it is very true. We will never know what it feels like to succeed or fail if we never do it. Failure is very real if you never do it, trying is the most difficult step in the process.

What a wonderful thing is when you feel proud of the results you did on the first try. I really felt that at this precious moment. I tell you something about my progression today. Is about making Biryani for the first time.

Favorite Food For All Family Members

It starts from a word, 'favorite food'. Even though we were born in Indonesia, one of our favorite foods (my husband and I) is Biryani rice. I don't know where this food comes from, maybe from India or the Middle East, but, this food makes us go crazy. Absolutely crazy about how super spicy and healthy it tastes.

Why is it healthy? Compared to other foods, I think homemade Biryani can be very healthy. Does not use ultra-processed and natural foods. All use natural ingredients, without contamination. High in protein, because it is made from goat or chicken as animal protein, basmati rice is low GI, there is fat and also fiber from pickles. It's complex and it tastes really good.

Practice makes perfect

I made it very easily, of course with some procedures that I learned on the back of the Biryani spice packet that I bought. I used 2 packs, enough for 1.5 lamb thighs and 500 grams of chicken, of course using 1.5 kg of basmati rice.

Before making it, I soaked the rice first, then washed it and cooked it until it was ½ cooked. I used a little saffron as a natural coloring, it will bring out an orange color, similar to turmeric.

I also boiled the goat meat for 3 hours, so that it could be bitten very gently, the soft texture of the goat really touched the heart, especially the unique taste. Although it smells a little when boiled, it is nothing compared to its taste.

While waiting, I made pickled vegetables using cucumber, carrots, chilies, vinegar, water, salt and sugar. Soak it until all the food is ready to eat. This pickle will make the taste even better.

When everything was ready to be boiled, I sautéed the crushed garlic and onions. Stir frying makes the aroma very fragrant, you can imagine how aromatic these various spices are. I used 20 ml canola oil, I should have used olive oil, but I don't have it anymore in my kitchen. Really, I very rarely use olive oil, it's hard to find it and in my country it's quite expensive. Oh yes, I also mixed in 2 tablespoons of yogurt to make it a little sour.

After the spices have been stir-fried, then put them into the boiled goat and chicken whose water has reduced, the water must be 1:1. Then the basmati rice that has been boiled and drained is then put into the pan with the meat contents. Cover and wait until everything is more perfectly cooked, it only takes 10-15 minutes. Add a little raisins to the rest to complement the taste.

Finally, we ate Biryani rice made by me for today's fasting break. You can see how happy my husband's face is with his favorite goat Biryani rice.

See you the next time hive friends!
