It has been cold in Germany unlike last weeks. This morning we even had leopard showers. Tomorrow, Monday, the lowest temperature will be minus 2 degrees Celsius, but on Sunday, the same week, the temperature will go to 25 degrees Celsius. I wish plants and animals aren't shocked with the drastic change ...

Last week I kept the tomatoes outside even at night on warm days, but this week they have been inside. It looks like they are seeing outside from the kitchen window, hoping that the warm weather will be back soon. I like this picture.

No major changes on the balcony, we are still getting lettuce leaves for sandwiches and salads as needed. My family loves the lettuce on the balcony and I am glad I planted them. In addition to lettuce, we will soon be able to harvest Asian salads and Shungiku (edible chrysanthemum). I am looking forward to making miso soup with tofu, nameko mushrooms, and Shungiku on a cold day next week.

The next few days will be cold, but I must not be too conservative. Temperatures usually stabilize in the middle of May in Germany, so I want to be prepared for that ahead of time. So I sowed bitter melon seeds and zucchini, which grows like a climbing plant. The temperature inside the house is also low, so I put them on a heat mat and wait for them to germinate. Bitter melon seeds cost about 3.5 EUR for 5 seeds and I can't laugh at my daughter's Pokemon card pack price 😂

Summer seedlings are growing slowly but steadily in my office. The tomatoes are getting a little too tall, but the peppers are growing nice and sturdy. Aji Charapita is a very expensive chili pepper, which dried fruits are said to be 20K EUR/kg. I call it the Bitcoin chili pepper in my mind because it was once priced at about 1 bitcoin per kilo when the bitcoin crashed.

In the containers in the community garden, strawberries were growing healthy and leafy. Some of the strawberries in the container are from my balcony at home. After my mother passed away last spring, I planted many strawberries with my daughter in memory of her. They grew well, so I made seedlings and transplanted them in the containers. Whenever we visited Japan in the spring, my mother had bought big and beautiful Japanese strawberries for my daughter. One year has already passed. How fast it was ...

We had a discussion the other day about the future maintenance of the community garden. Due to the lack of funding this year and my reduced number of market days this year, it was decided that the person responsible for the market held in the Market Hall will also serve as the maintainer. I know her from the market and I heard that she studied plants and the environment, so I feel comfortable with the decision. I will continue to help the garden time by time.

So, I am a bit garden-losing, but actually, I heard that there is a vacancy at Klein Garten, which my friend has her space. When I can drive alone (I am currently taking refreshing course), I am planning to rent it ... But it is a bit far away, but if I have my own yard and garden, I can plant fruit trees, which I have always dreamed of. What a difficult dicision!

ドイツでは先々週、先週とは打って変わって、寒い日が続いています。今朝はヒョウが降るほどでした。明日月曜日の最低気温はなんとマイナス2度、でも同じ週の日曜日には25度まで上がるとかで、植物も人間もびっくりしないといいのですが。

先週は暖かい日にはトマトを夜も外に出していましたが、今週はずっと屋内です。こうして見てみるとキッチンの窓辺から早く暖かい日が戻ってこないか眺めているようです。私はなんだかこの写真が好きです。

バルコニーに大きな変化はなく、必要に応じてサンドイッチやサラダのためにレタスの葉をもらう日々です。レタスに加えて、アジアサラダも収穫できるようになりそうです。春菊の葉っぱが少し増えてきたので、来週寒い日にお味噌汁に入れようと思います。

むこう数日は寒い日が続きますが、保守的になりすぎてはいけません。ドイツでも五月半ばには例年気温が安定するので、その前の準備はしっかりとしたいところです。ということで、ゴーヤと上に登っていくように育つズッキーニの種をまきました。家の中の温度も低めなので、ヒートマットの上に置いて発芽を待ちます。ゴーヤの種は5粒で600円ほどで、子供のポケモンカードを笑えません 😂 夏にはゴーヤをたくさん食べたいのでなるべくたくさん発芽してほしいです。

 
オフィスではゆっくりですが、順調に夏の苗が育っています。トマトは徒長気味なものの、唐辛子たちはいい感じにずんぐりむっくりしています。今年こそAji Charapitaの収穫にこぎつけたいです。Aji Charapitaは乾燥した実がとても高価な唐辛子で、ビットコインが暴落した時に1キロ1ビットコインくらいになったことがあって、心の中でビットコイン唐辛子と呼んでいます。

コミュニティガーデンのコンテナでは、いちごが元気に葉っぱを茂らせていました。コンテナに植えたいちごの一部は、自宅のバルコニーで増やしたものです。去年、母が亡くなって、母と私と子供の思い出にいちごをたくさん植えたらよく増えたので苗を作って移植したのです。春に日本に帰ると、母が子供のために日本の大きくて美しいいちごを用意してくれていました。もう一年。早いなあ。

先日コミュニティガーデンの今後のメンテナンスについて小さな話し合いがありました。今年は助成金がなく、私がマーケットの出店回数を減らしたこともあり、マーケットホールで開催されるマーケットの責任者がメンテナーを兼務することになりました。マーケットで顔を合わせる仲で、植物や環境について勉強した人で、安心して引き継げそうです。今後も活動のお手伝いは続ける予定です。

ということで、若干ガーデンロスですが、実は友人が利用しているクラインガルテンに空きがあるとのことで、一人で車を運転できるようになったら（今ペーパードライバー教習に通っているのです）、ノリと勢いで借りちゃおうか・・・なんて目論んでいます。ただ、ちょっと遠いんですよね、でも自分の庭、庭があれば夢だった果樹を植えられます。
